Zita (Tomie) Thomas Schneider died in her sleep on June 9th, 2013 at the age of 80. She was born in Evanston, Illinois to Mr. and Mrs. Owen Thomas. She graduated high school in Gaylord, Michigan and attended the St. Bernard's School of Nursing in Chicago, Illinois. She started her nursing career in Denver, Colorado and then moved to the West Coast where she became a flight attendant for United Airlines. She loved living in the city and flying between San Francisco and Honolulu for several years. Shortly after moving to California, she met Fred C. Schneider. The two were married on June 8th, 1963 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in San Francisco. She passed away the day after celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. She leaves behind her husband, two daughters Annemarie Prophet and Katrina Cole, and four grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her independent spirit and kindness towards others.
