Virginia (Gin) Johnson died April 21,2023. She was born September 6, 1927. She graduated from college in 1949 and married Melvin Johnson that same year. During their 55 year marriage, they lived in Coos Bay, Eugene, and Portland and had five boys. She taught school for 18 years and after retirement enjoyed 15 years of snow birding to Arizona.

She loved several sports, participated in volleyball, tennis, golf, and table tennis. Square dancing and round dancing was another love. She was a volunteer in the SMART programs at school and worked at her church in several ministries, especially quilting.

Preceding her in death was a son, Todd, her husband, Melvin, and her sister LaVelle Prater.

Surviving sons are: Ron, Mark, Perry, and Clarke, also two grandsons, and a great grandson.

Services will be at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1036 E. Lincoln St., Woodburn, Oregon, at 11AM, on May 27th. Contributions may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, or Hospice WVH Tokarski Home, in Salem, OR.
