Vicki was born in Salinas, Ca 11/21/1940 and passed peacefully on 11/22/23 at Legacy Silverton Hospital surrounded by her loving family and friends after battling injuries sustained in a car accident.
After marriage and children, she became a single parent. She always worked two jobs to take care of her daughters. She spent most of her career at Willamette National Cemetery where she started as a receptionist/secretary and worked her way up to being the first female director of a national cemetery in the country. She moved to Minnesota to train for her new position where she met the love of her life, Will Spencer. They were happily married for 37 years. Once they retired, they moved back to Oregon where they bought their home in Senior Estates. They volunteered with Meals on Wheels, Tax Aid and for various church activities for more than 20 years. Together they were the NEWS&VIEWS delivery coordinators for 22 years. She loved helping people and making their day brighter by bringing them food, a hug and a smile. People loved to hear her laugh. Vicki and Will loved to take car trips across the country, choosing a different route each year so they could see something different. She also loved animals and always had a pet or two.
She is survived by her husband, Will Spencer, her daughters Kelly Smith and Kym Champagne, her sons Skip Cripe and G. Louis Hemenway and her step daughter, Tammy Spencer. She also has 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Her family would like to thank the medical staff at Emanuel Hospital, Meridian Park Hospital, Legacy Silverton Hospital and Dr. Brian Bedolla for tirelessly working on balancing her health issues and injuries. Thanks to her pastor Mike Smith for always being at her bedside when needed. Thanks to her best friend,Sue Cross.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in Vicki's name to ASPCA, St. Jude's Children's Hospital and her church, Woodburn Christian.
