Chuck Alexander, as he was known, passed away peacefully under the care of hospice on April 19, 2024. He was 92 years old.
Born in St. Johns, Oregon on July 23, 1931 to Vere C Alexander and Nellie Alexander, he was the oldest of two sons. His younger brother Cecil Alexander passed at the age of 35.
Chuck attended Roosevelt High school in Portland until his family relocated to Los Angeles California, where he graduated from San Fernando High School. During his time at San Fernando High, he met his lifelong friend Tony Cabodi. Tony and Chuck remained good friends right until Tony's passing in 2023.
Chuck was drafted into the Army in 1951 and fought in the Korean War. Following the war, both he and Tony worked together in the grocery business. In 1957 Chuck met the love of his life, Sara Boyce. Together they had four sons and we married for 66 years. The family moved back to Milwaukie Oregon in 1970. Chuck went to work with his dad in the home building business for the next 30 years. (Alexander & Son Homebuilding) Chuck, together with his dad and oldest son Rex, built approximately 200 homes throughout Clackamas County.
Chuck was an avid sports fan and loved the Portland Trailblazers, Seattle Seahawks, and Mariners. His other passions were golf, poker, snooker, and horse racing. He rarely missed watching the sports events of his grandchildren. He always referred to himself as a "car guy". His greatest joy was to get behind the wheel and take cross country trips with Sara. They traveled throughout the United States several times, visiting relatives, war memorials and battle fields.
Chuck was predeceased by his parents and brother. He is survived by is wife Sara, his oldest son by his first marriage, Robert Driver (Cathy) and his four sons with Sara; Rex (Suzanne), Jeff (Karen), Steve (Kimberly) and Kevin (Kelly). His grandchildren, Ashley, Austin (Mayra), Aaron, Hailey, and Taylor.
Chuck was a true gentleman and a proud American. Chuck now has the comfort and peace he so desired these past few years. He will be greatly missed by all his love ones.
