Obituary
Toni Myong Evans passed away unexpectedly at home on July 29, 2015 in Wilsonville, OR at the age of 68.Toni was born Myong Kun Yi on September 26, 1946 in Seoul, South Korea. She attended Primary, Middle and High School in Seoul, South Korea. She met her husband, Dale Evans, in 1971 while he was stationed with the Army in Seoul, South Korea. They were married on November 22, 1972 in Coos Bay, OR. Toni became a U.S. Citizen in 1975 and changed her name to Toni Myong Evans.
Toni started the Korean Bible Study Group in Coos Bay, OR for all the Korean families in the area. Her hobbies included sewing and gardening. Over the past 19 years, she worked many different roles in the kitchen at the Department of Veterans Affairs in Portland, OR. She took great pride in her job and made many friends. She also loved to cook her native Korean food for others to try and enjoy. In April 2014, Toni retired from the VA due to gallbladder cancer. She completed chemotherapy in May 2014 and was in remission until the beginning of this year when other health ailments started to surface.
Toni is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Dale Evans of Wilsonville, OR; son, Jeffrey Evans of Wilsonville, OR; daughter, Julie Dodrill of Wilsonville, OR; 3 grandchildren, Gavin and Giselle Dodrill of Wilsonville, OR and Alannis Evans of St. Helens, OR; 3 sisters, In Ja Nam, Bok Hee Nam, and Young Hee Nam of Seoul, South Korea; 2 brothers, Chun Hee Nam and Jun Hee Nam of Seoul, South Korea; and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. Toni is preceded in death by her father, Jeong Man Nam in 1986 and her mother, Im Cheon Jang in 1993.
A viewing will take place on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 from 1 – 4 pm at Cornwell Colonial Chapel located in Wilsonville, OR. There will be a graveside service on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at 10:30 am at Willamette National Cemetery located in Portland, OR. All are welcome to attend.
