Sumiko Miyaoka Waterman, long time resident of Woodburn, Oregon, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday the 8th of April 2017.
Born to Shogo Tanaska and Chieko Miyaoka in Tokyo, Honshu, Japan on January 21st, 1939, Sumi was the third eldest of four children.
Sumi was a beloved member of the Woodburn Eagles where she was an avid supporter of their fundraising efforts for their cancer and children's funds. She was known for her kind and caring nature.
Preceded in death by her husband, Ray Waterman, and her eldest son, Max Armstrong. She is survived by her sister, Kyoka Nelson, her sons, Kent Armstrong and Wayne Armstrong, her five grandchildren, five great grandchildren and her companion, Dick Thompson. She's left behind many close friends that became more like family, thanks to the kindness and love she shared with them.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Family Pet Partners (non profit) 2505 Portland Rd, Ste, Newberg, OR 97132 in memory of Sumiko Waterman.
A celebration of life will be held April 30th, 2017, 1pm at the Woodburn Eagles.
