Steven Paul Kohlmeyer, 67, Woodburn, died unexpectedly of natural causes on January 8, 2023. He was born in Oakland, California on November 24, 1955, and moved with his family to Hubbard in 1962, where he attended North Marion schools, and participated in cross-country, track, and wrestling. He then entered the Coast Guard, serving in Alaska, afterward returning to the Willamette Valley to work for several manufacturing firms. He later became a custodian for Chemeketa Community College, and worked at both the Salem and Woodburn campuses, retiring in August 2022.
Steve had abiding interests in American presidential history, photography, videography (doing volunteer camera work at Chemeketa CC), and genealogy (compiling an extensive family tree).
He is survived by his brothers Gary (Dianne) and Bill (Skyla), sisters Fritzi Bronec, Lois Hassing, and Beth Mallon (Kevin), 18 nieces and nephews, 41 great nieces and nephews, and 5 great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leland James (Jim) and Mary Ann Kohlmeyer, sister Jean Howard, and brothers-in-law Joe Bronec, Dave Hassing, and Doug Howard.
He requested no service be held. Arrangements are in the care of Simon Cornwell Colonial Chapel.
