Sara Lee Alexander was born in Missouri to Rex and Helen Boyce. She was middle child of 3 girls.
Eventually the family moved to California. Sara was always very close with her two sisters, Jane and Arma.
After graduation from high school, Sara worked for Lockheed Martin Aerospace. She enjoyed her time working there and met some very interesting people.
In 1957 Sara married Chuck Alexander and shortly after left her job to become a full-time mother and homemaker. While raising their four boys, Sara still found time to become an avid bowler and president of the local Los Angeles PTA. After relocating to Oregon, Sara became active in the North Clackamas Welcome Wagon. She really enjoyed any opportunity to be of help to others.
Sara always loved to travel and was able to visit all 50 states. She and Chuck drove the lower 48 states, twice. She enjoyed letter writing and wrote to her many longtime friends and family. She especially enjoyed receiving her family cousin letter that came each year. Sara also enjoyed doing arts and crafts with her grandchildren. Painting was something Sara learned to do later in life, she loved sharing her artwork with friends and family.
Sara's greatest joy was her family, she treasured all the family get-togethers and often reminisced about the huge gathering at their 50th anniversary party. She loved celebrating holidays and birthdays so everyone could gather which always included lots of cooking and baking.
Chuck and Sara were married 66 years before Chuck's passing in 2024. Sara's last few years were riddled with health problems but she never complained and always was so appreciative for all the help and support from her family and caregivers. She passed peacefully with the help of her caregivers.
Sara was preceded in death by her parents, sister Jane and husband Vere Alexander Jr (Chuck). She is survived by her children, Rex (Sue), Jeff (Karen), Steve (Kimberly) and Kevin (Kelly), her stepson Bob Driver (Cathy) and 5 grandchildren, Ashley, Austin (Mayra), Aaron, Hailey and Taylor.
In lieu of gifts or flowers, Sara requested that donations be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
