Roland Stanley Edsall, 79 years of age, passed away on Monday, September 18, 2017 at
Salem Hospital, Salem, Oregon.
Roland "Ron" was born January 9, 1938 in Goshen, New York to the late Harold Ripley
Edsall and Agnes Mae Jones (f/k/a Edsall). He was the seventh of eight children, five of
which preceded him in death.
Ron married the late Ederlie "Kitty" Edsall in February 1963 and remained joined in
union for 54 years. Together with her, Ron embraced the challenges and triumphs of
raising a blended family and had his hands full with all eight of us; of which are, Eddie,
Wayne, Vickie, Yvonne, Ronald, Vaughn, Shawn, and one sharing his company presently;
Louie Jr. (Deceased). Ron also leaves his sisters, Betty Fillios and Delores Pingotti, to
cherish his memory, along with their families.
Ron was a compassionate soul with a work ethic second to none. He was generous,
dedicated, and happy to go the extra mile for friends and family. He worked tirelessly for
many years starting at a very young age. As a young man, he joined the United States
Navy and proudly served his country. Often times, he would recollect fond memories of
those days. After his service to country, he chose to join the law enforcement community
and his involvement was extensive; working with Montgomery Police Department in
Montgomery, New York, Utah State and Arizona State Corrections, and finally ending his
long career with Oregon State Corrections.
Ron had a carefree side as well. Not many knew but he was a true music lover. He took
pride in his stereo system and would always keep it updated with the times. As his
children, we were lucky enough to feel the house come alive with the smooth vocals of
Frank Sinatra or the rich deep instrumental solos in a Johnny Mathis song. The music he
played and the notes that flowed through the walls and rafters in our home is very much
like the life he lived and how it reached all who knew him, giving each of us a memory
we will hold dear to our hearts.
You will be missed Ron, dad, brother, granddad, great-granddad, and friend…
