Rodolfo Veliz, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. He was a man of deep faith, humility, and quiet strength, whose kindness and devotion left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him.
Rodolfo was born in Edinburg, Texas, and later made Oregon his home, where he built a life centered on faith, family, hard work, and community. He was the devoted husband of Candelaria Veliz, with whom he shared more than 61 years of love and partnership. Together, they raised three children—Christina Angeles, Anthony Veliz, and Joaquin Veliz—along with son-in-law Jaime Angeles and daughters-in-law Kimberly Veliz and Cindy Avila. They created a home filled with faith, laughter, and generosity. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, of whom he was very proud.
Known for his strong work ethic and gentle spirit, Rodolfo embodied the values of perseverance, respect, and humility as a farmworker, a student at Colegio César Chávez, and a teacher at Highland Elementary School in Salem. He later retired from McLaren's Lord High School in Woodburn.
We invite you to join us in honoring and celebrating a beautiful life. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church (1010 Columbia Street NE, Salem, Oregon) on Friday, November 21, at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends are welcome to gather beforehand for a viewing at 10:00 a.m., followed by a rosary at 10:30 a.m. After the service, please join us for a reception in the parish hall to share memories, stories, and fellowship. The interment will follow at St. Luke's Cemetery (1679 North Front Street, Woodburn, Oregon).
Rodolfo will be remembered as a man of unwavering faith and deep devotion to his family. His legacy of love, kindness, and integrity will continue to live on through his children, grandchildren, and all whose lives he touched.
