Rockne (Rocky) H. Foshaug of Tigard, Oregon died Friday, September 5, 2014 at Cedar Crest Special Care Center, where he was lovingly cared for.
Rocky was born February 2, 1932 to Klaus and Emma Foshaug in Rainier, Oregon and grew up there with his parents and siblings, Fred, Harold, Kingsley, and Elvida.
Rocky graduated from Rainier Union High School in 1950. He married Mona R. Brower and they later divorced. Rock later married Sally J. Stacy who survives him at home.
Rocky and Mona had four children: Rick (Odessa )of Longview, Nancy (Larry) of Kelso, Kathy Nickle, Lisa (Roger) Thomas of Rainier. Three step-children: Leslie Brooks of Oregon City, Oregon, Paul (Barbara) Meade and Bill (Monica) Meade of Portland, Oregon. Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren also, survive.
Other survivors are: Neil (Elvida) Frack, Evelyn (Fred) Foshaug , sisters-in-law, Lynn Turner and Sharon Meadows of Springfield and many nieces and nephews.
Rocky served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps in the Korean War from 1951-1953. After returning, he worked as a Longshoreman for over 40 years.
He enjoyed traveling in his motor homes, singing Barbershop music, spending time with family and friends.
Rocky was well known for the wonderful wooden boats, built from scratch, that he created for long time valued family and friends. He volunteered for the Rainier Fire Department for 20 years and was a member of the Rainier Ski Bees, water skiing group. He took part in many civic activities such as Rainier Daze, and the Lions and Elks clubs.
Burial arrangements are at the Cornwell Colonial Chapel of Wilsonville, Oregon.
A private burial will be held at Willamette National Cemetary in Portland, Oregon and a Celebration of Life will be held at the I.L.W. U. Longshore Hall in Longview, Washington at a date to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Disabled American Vets and Legacy Hospice Services, or a charity of your choice.
