Robert (Bob) was born near Silverton, Oregon on July 26, 1928 to Joseph and Nora Schmidt. Bob attended grade school at North Howell and in 1945 graduated from Silverton High School. In 1951 Bob enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed in Texas and at Fairchild Air Force Base near Spokane.
After his discharge from the Air Force in 1954, Bob returned to the Willamette Valley where he started farming. In 1958 he married Kathy and together they raised three children: Jim (Carol), Roger, and Melissa (Doug). His grandchildren, Kayla, Joseph, Stephanie, Nathan, Olivia, and Samuel, were the joy of his life.
Bob is survived by his brothers Lee, Alan, and Ralph. He was preceded in death by his brother Ronald.

A memorial service will be held at First Church of the Nazarene, 1550 Market Street NE in Salem on Saturday, June 6th at 2PM.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Salem First Nazarene missions program, Union Gospel Mission, Willamette Valley Hospice, or American Cancer Society.
