Robert L. Poznanski was born on April 22,1924 in McKees Rocks,PA.
After graduating from High School, Bob joined the U.S. Navy for its educational opportunities.Upon finishing his Navy schooling, he became an instructor at the Naval electronics and radio communications training school on Treasure Island in San Francisco, CA. where he taught electronics until his discharge in 1945.
While stationed there, Bob went to a dance at Mills college in Oakland, CA where he met his future wife, Dorothy, who was a student.Bob and Dorothy were married in San Francisco in 1945.
Bob's first job after his discharge was as an instructor at the American Television Institute of Technology in Chicago,Il. He and Dorothy spent seven years in Chicago where their family grew to five with the addition of three daughters, Suanne, Linda and Roberta.
In 1952, Bob moved his family to Portland, OR, where he was soon busy organizing and starting the company, Phillips Electronics. There was much discussion about the use of the name Poznanski for business but there were few Polish folks in Portland and even fewer folks who did not stumble over the name Poznanski. Phillips was selected for the business as it was much easier to pronounce and easier to remember. Phillips Electronics was born and remains in business today after being managed by daughter Roberta and currently by grandson Casey.
Bob and Dorothy were blessed to live to celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary last October, attended by Bob's brother and sister, his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many many dear friends. Bob's love and devotion to his family has been foundational to the happiness the family enjoys and shares with each other today. He will be greatly missed and always remembered.
There will be a viewing for Bob at the Cornwell Colonial Chapel, 29222 SW Town Center Loop E., Wilsonville, Oregon on Thursday 4/21/16 from 1-4 PM.
The funeral service will be held on Friday 4/22/16 at The Parish of St. Mark, 1025 NW 21st Ave., Portland, Oregon at 1 PM. A reception will follow the service. You may park in the hospital parking lot directly behind the church.
In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to the charity of your choice.
