Richard Howard Balin, born January 16, 1928 in Chicago Illinois, died peacefully in his sleep in his own bed in the home of his daughter Lauren on February 7, 2021, of natural causes. Richard was the husband of Rosalie Balin, father of Lauren sue Balin, Kimberly Ann Balin, David Balin, Pamela Cohen Berz,, and Barry Kreiter, father in law to Tami Tecihert Balin and Cheryl Kreiter, and grandfather to Jacob Balin, Rachel Kreiter and Elizabeth Kreiter. Richard was the last surviving brother (Gilbert, Sylvan, Maurice, Harold, and Abraham) of Irving and Freida Balin. Richard leaves behind is nephew Timothy and nieces, Tina, Tamara, Carol and Claudia. In the end Richard was happy and in no pain. He enjoyed watching How It Works and reminiscing about the Army and the exploits of his lifelong friends. Richard said he lived a good life and was ready to go. He loved life and will be missed. Richard will be interred in the Portland, Oregon Veteran's Cemetery. Please do not send flowers. Richard donated to charities for the blind and Israel, but he would tell you to put it on the hard 8 instead.
