Rene' Theo Seghetini, 85, born 8/4/1927 passed away peacefully on 1/8/2013. Rene' was born in a small city in Switzerland, Lausanne. His mother, Celine Bruchez-Seghetini, was originally from Martigny in the Canton de Valais and his father, Antonio Seghetini was originally from Pescara, Italy. As Switzerland has many regions, the family was multi lingual. His father spoke 7 languages, his mother spoke 4 and Rene' spoke a total of 7. Rene's nickname was "Poupon" those who knew him in Switzerland and his family used this as a term of endearment. He was raised with his sister, Marcelle. His father, Antonio, was the Manager of the Hotel Royal in Lausanne. Rene left school at 12 to begin his apprenticeship at the Hotel Royal. This began his career in the service industry, which lasted 50 years. In between working at the Royal, he also monitored the Alps as part of the ski patrol. He continued to work at other restaurants in the neighboring towns until his mid twenties. He left Switzerland for the American dream in 1952, when he moved to New York. He worked in various NY restaurants and lived in Queens. In 1955, he convinced his sister, Marcelle, to move to NY as well. But by then he began his move across the US, starting first by going south to West Virginia at the Greenbrier Hotel for the summers and working the winters in Miami. They moved west to Los Angeles where he worked at Villa Frascati. Rene' became a US citizen in 1958. While in LA, he married Kaye Murphy and she had 2 daughters - Sandra & Kathy - he loved the family. In 1967, Rene met with Mr. Meier of Meier & Frank who offered him the job of Director of Restaurants for Meier & Frank in Oregon. He worked with Meier & Frank for 11 years and then managed the Thunderbird at Jantzen Beach for 10 years. He completed his career after 11 years at the Ringside and retired. In late 1985, Rene brought his mother, Celine, to Oregon where he cared for her until her death in 1995.Rene' may not have had a long family tree but he was blessed with a Niece, Liliane Ancona-Garcia. He was very proud of her and her accomplishments and enjoyed vacationing with her and her husband Rudy. He had many extended families that shared his life. He lived his life to his own beat and everyone who shared in his life was richer because of him.He searched for his true love, had experiences along the way, and met her in Marie Thomas in 2002. They spent 10 wonderful years together before her passing in 2012. They lived in Wilsonville, OR where they enjoyed each other and a big extended family. Rene' was a member of the Portland Petanque Club, he loved to play chess, backgammon, ping pong, swimming, scuba diving and he was a very good poker player. He enjoyed good wine, cooking and watching people enjoy what he prepared. Rene' is survived by his Niece, Liliane Ancona-Garcia & her husband Rudy of East Windsor NJ. He is preceded in death by his Father - Antonio, Mother - Celine & Sister - Marcelle.
