Pauline Vershum was born in Newberg OR in 1925, the daughter of Wm. Elmer and Mabel Thomas. Pauline graduated from Newberg Union High School in 1943 and married her childhood sweetheart Arnold when he returned from war in 1945.
During the war Pauline worked in a secretarial capacity at Army Engineers and later worked as a secretary at Viewmaster and then Blue Cross before moving from Oregon to Kansas, then to Louisiana, then Idaho, and finally back to Oregon. She lived in Senior Estates in Woodburn for nearly thirty years.
Pauline loved small dogs and had 7 dachshunds over her lifetime. She also loved to bake cookies and pies sharing generously with friends and family. She could frequently be found working in her flower beds.
She died June 4th in Woodburn OR and is survived by her two children, Virginia Busskohl of Spokane WA and Eugene Vershum of Portland OR. She had two grandchildren Lynette Schnell of Graham WA and Patrick Hinds of Spokane WA, and 4 great-grandchildren, Alicia, Katelynn, Zachary, and Lauren.
A private graveside service will be held at Skyline Memorial Gardens.
