Paula Irene Michels was born to the late Frederick "Fritz" and Laura Boeckman on April 2, 1952 in Portland. She had been a life long resident of the area making her final home with her husband Mark in Woodburn.
She was a graduate of West Linn High School and continued her education at Western College of Business. She started work at Farmers Insurance in 1979 as an Executive Assistant until she retired 38 years later. Throughout her career, she took great pride in her work and was as equally invested in her coworkers both personally and professionally, making life long relationships with many of them. She was always able to anticipate others questions and needs even before they realized they had a question. Paula was a human calendar for anyone she knew. She knew their birthday, anniversary, work anniversary, children's names and birthdates, and anything significant to that person.
In 1985 she met the love of her life Mark Michels. Upon marriage she gained three children that she loved as her own. She loved her family and enjoyed watching her bonus kids grow. She instilled strong values in her children and marveled in each of their accomplishments. Her sense of humor, intelligence and caring nature made her easy to love.
One of the most important aspects of her life was keeping connected with her family and life long friends. She had many passions in life including quilting/sewing, baking, gardening, camping, and riding ATV's. Some of her happiest moments were sitting on "cell phone hill' at Sand Lake overlooking the ocean and reflecting on all the joys of her life.
Paula is survived by her husband, Mark, her sons, Kayn and wife Julia, Jim and wife Becky, her daughter Liesha and husband Roland, her grandchildren, Karen, Leslie, Cooper, Avery and Rhys as well as her brother Bruce and wife Sharon and sister Donna and husband Randy. She is proceeded in death by her parents Fritz and Laura.
Heaven must have gotten chilly and needed someone to come make quilts.
