Oscar was a beloved husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, nephew and friend to many.
Oscar Arnett "Duba" Mullens, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on January 4, 2022, in Woodburn, OR. He was born on May 26, 1959 in Youngstown Ohio, and played basketball and Football at South High in Youngstown. In 1978, Oscar moved to Portland Oregon. He attended Portland Community College where he met and married, Pattie Leyva of Woodburn in 2014. The two loved traveling in the US and across the globe. They resided in Ashburn, VA, Tracy, CA, Bellevue, WA, and Hillsboro, OR. Oscar and Pattie made their final move to their retirement dream home in Woodburn, OR in 2021.
Oscar is remembered for his kindness, his vast knowledge on a variety subjects, especially Black History. He was a collector of Black History artifacts. He was an avid fisherman as well as an enthusiastic fan of THE Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Browns, music, and the Oregon State Fair. He was a member of the Youngstown chapter of Creme Del La Creme Jr. and the Portland Buffalo Soldiers.
He is survived by his wife, Pattie, daughter Taylor Mullens-Rembert (Devon) of Philadelphia, PA, uncle Sidney (Jeanette) Moore of Beaverton, stepson, Joey Cavazos of Beaverton and grandson Damian Chavez of Salem. He is preceded in death by his father Arnett Mullens, mother Wilma Adger-Mullens and sister Tiffany Mullens of Youngstown, Ohio.
Services will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at Cornwells in Woodburn (390 N 2nd Street). Burial will follow at St.Luke's Cemetery (1679 N Front St.) and a Celebration of Life at the Woodburn Estates and Golf (1776 Country Club Road) Woodburn.
