Obituary

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed peacefully at Arbor Oaks Terrace on March 30, 2016. She was 94 years of age. She was born on June 16,1921 in Meridan, Kansas. She was not expected to live as she only weighed 3lb. Her grandmother McLucas stayed with her 24/7 until she was strong enough to go home. She graduated from Topeka High School and is remembered for her accomplishments as an outstanding and talented baton twirler. She was a Kansas State Champion Marble Player two years in a row. She could also spin a mean YoYo. She wasn't only a teacher of life values, she provided a loving and comfortable childhood for her son and daughter. If they were ever afraid she would always give them a big hug and say ( don't worry I will keep you safe ) then everything was fine.

She met George in 1940 at a dance hall in Topeka Kansas and it was love at first dance. They were marred on August 30, 1941 and shortly thereafter the US entered WW II. When George joined the Army Air force she went to work at the ship yards in Long Beach California as a ships compass fitter and calibrator. At the conclusion of WW II she and George resided in Long Beach where their loving son Steven G. Carey ,was born August 25, 1946. After moving to Vancouver Washington their sweet and loving daughter, Victoria L. Carey, was born on July 1, 1949. She loved traveling, water sports, homemaking and crossword puzzles. She also liked to have a wee vodka occasionally. She is survived by son Steve and daughter Vicky, 6 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held June 4th, 1PM at Cornwell Colonial Chapel, 29222 SW Town Ctr. Loop, Wilsonville, Oregon 97070. Interment will be June 6th at Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 SE Mount Scott Blvd., Portland Oregon 97086 alongside her beloved husband and eternal friend Georgie.
