Nica Gish, born Nica Kathleen Girod, died peacefully in Woodburn, OR on May 26, 2018 at the age of 85.
Nica is survived by her sister, Leone Wenzel of Prairie City, OR, grandchildren Kevin True of Salem, OR, Brandon (Melanie) True of Keizer, OR, LeAnne (Ben) Bedlion of Dallas, OR, Katy Smith-Gish of Riverton, Utah and Austin Gish of Dallas, OR and four great grandchildren--Bailey, Peyton, Brody and Kaylin.
Her daughter, Katherine Diane True, adopted son, Edwin Brian Gish and her husband, Edwin H. Gish, preceded her in death.
Nica was born on November 8, 1932 to Ralph & Minnie Elsie Girod. She married Ed Gish on November 25, 1947. They met at a dance in Pedee, OR. They started their married life in Falls City, OR and then moved to Valsetz, OR where her husband logged for many years.
They settled in Dallas, OR where their daughter Katherine was born in 1949. In 1961, they adopted their son, Eddie Gish. After retirement, they moved to Woodburn Senior Estates where they spent many years golfing, traveling and pursuing various craft projects.
Nica was an avid golfer and a member of the Woodburn Senior Estate Golf Club. She competed in various golf tournaments and even won some of them. She enjoyed sewing, wood crafting, toll painting, dancing, yard work, growing flowers, traveling, camping and spending time with her family.
A memorial service is schedule for 11:00 A.M. on June 15, 2018 at Simon-Cornwell Colonial Chapel, 390 N. 2nd Street, Woodburn, OR, with a reception to follow at Woodburn Senior Estates Country Club. Bill Park & Curt Jones will officiate the ceremony.
