It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Michael William Padberg on November 19, 2023. Mike was born in Pendleton, Oregon, to William Henry Irving Padberg and Betty (Baker) Orton, and was later raised in Tigard, Oregon. He met Brenda O'Brien while attending Fowler Jr. High. On the first day of school, Mike was introduced to Brenda, a new student who had moved from Florida, and their relationship blossomed later in high school. Mike and Brenda celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary in April 2023.



Michael graduated from Tigard High School, where he was a standout athlete, and attended Oregon State University, where he played football. He was a fearless Marine Corps sniper and served in Vietnam from 1969 to 1972, where he was honored with medals. A proud veteran, Mike was also an active member of his church and community, and served as the President of the Kiwanis Club of Woodburn.



Mike is lovingly remembered by his wife, Brenda; their three children, Seana, Shane, and Shannon; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and his brothers, Rob Orton and Kip Orton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Betty (Baker) Orton and Bill Padberg, and his sister, Tura Padberg.



Friends are invited to celebrate his life with military honors on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at 11 a.m., at Woodburn Christian Church, 126 Workman Drive, Woodburn, Oregon, 97071.



He will be deeply missed, and his memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
