Obituary

After six months of failing health, Max Lucas unexpectedly passed away June 14, 2012, in Woodburn, Oregon.Max Alton Lucas was born in Albany, Oregon on Feb. 1, 1928, the youngest of sixchildren born to Cora and Dessa Lucas. Max grew up in Philomath. After graduatingfrom Philomath High School in June 1945, he joined the US Navy Submarine Service.Following his discharge from the Navy, Max began a 40 year career in the auto finance business, working for City Finance, Capital Finance, and Beneficial Finance as a manager and auditor.After retiring from private business, Max began a second career as an auditorfor the State of Oregon Banking Department.Max married Barbara Stevens in July 1958. They lived many years in Southwest Portland And in 1990 bought a home in Woodburn Senior Estates where Max played golf andraised wonderful flowers. He was active on the Board of Senior Estates and hassupported the activities of the Willamette Humane Society. After retirement he andBarbara traveled extensively in Europe.Max is survived by his wife, Barbara; by his sister Joyce Roner: and by Steve and JackieBeaver and their daughters Laura and Rachel.Funeral arrangements are provided by Cornwell Colonial Chapel, Woodburn.Veiwing of urn placement in the columbarium at Willamette National Cemetery inPortland, Oregon is scheduled for Wed. June 27, 2012 at 2:00 PM. A memorial service will be held later this summer.
