In Loving Memory of Mavis Ilene Leith August 20, 1930 – September 20, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Mavis Leith, on Wednesday, September 20th 2023, at the age of 93. She left us peacefully, surrounded by her loving family.

Mavis was born on August 20th, 1930 to Charles Frederick Powers and Grace Edith Powers (nee Cornick) in Sioux City, Iowa. They moved to Oregon when she was at a young age where she spent the majority of her life. A loving daughter, sister, friend, and most importantly, a devoted mother who touched the lives of all who knew her. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love have left an indelible mark on our hearts.

A woman of extraordinary strength and resilience, Mavis faced life's challenges with determination and tenacity. She was a pillar of support for her family, always putting the needs of others before her own. Her selflessness knew no bounds. She was our biggest cheerleader and defender no matter what we were doing.

In her younger years, Mavis was a very accomplished bowler where she accumulated many trophies and tournament wins. She would travel for regional tournaments and routinely set league records with her group. Very skilled in arts and crafts, she made many creative items especially beautifully intricate customs dolls and lamp for gifts and sale. She instilled in her children a deep appreciation for hard work and following your passions and to be happy in life. We were always supported and inspired to pursue our dreams relentlessly.

Mavis is survived by her husband Kenneth Leith, to whom she was a devoted and loving partner for 56 years. Her memory will forever be cherished by her 4 children, Linda, Christopher, Gregg and Tina, 3 grandchildren, Scott, Nicole and Ashley and 6 great-grandchildren with one on the way. Being the youngest of 11 siblings she is preceded in death by 6 sisters and 4 brothers.

A celebration of Mavis Ilene Leith's life will be held 10:00 AM at Simon Cornwell Colonial Chapel in Woodburn, Oregon. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects and share their cherished memories. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to The Alzheimer's Association in her honor.

Mavis Leith's departure from this world leaves a void that can never be filled, but her legacy of love, compassion, and strength will continue to inspire us all. As we grieve her loss, let us remember the many beautiful moments we shared while camping, fishing and traveling together and hold her memory close to our hearts.

"Perhaps they are not stars in the sky but rather openings where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are happy."

Rest in peace Mom, you will forever be missed and never forgotten.

With love and remembrance,

The Leith and Peaslee Families
