Mary M. Wyant, born May 22, 1937 passed away peacefully in Canby surrounded by the love of family and friends at the age of 77. She was born in Hot Springs, South Dakota to Virginia and Ellsworth Ash.
In 1959, she married Lewis (Pat) Wyant and they resided in South Dakota, Montana and Louisiana before finally settling in Wilsonville, Oregon. They had three children together, Margaret, Jay, and Ed. Mary stayed close to her children and worked as a cook at the Wilsonville Grade School while her kids were young, then went on to work at Viewmaster, Packwell, Dammasch State Hospital and Holladay Park.
Mary worked at Dammasch State Hospital in Wilsonville as a Mental Health Therapist Rx until it closed and then transferred to Holladay Park Medical Center in Portland until she retired in 1997. She worked in the Mental Health field for over twenty years and had a very special gift that enabled her to communicate and connect with her patients in a way no one else could. Mary enjoyed spending time on the Oregon Coast, taking vacations to Hawaii, shopping, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren and loved ones. She was a wonderful cook and will always be fondly remembered for her caring, kindness, pure love of animals, generosity, passionate opinions, and smile. She is survived by her children, Margaret Haworth (Doug), Jay Wyant (Jane), and Connie Musilek; brother, Ed Kelly; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Pat and sons John and Ed. A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, at Cornwell Colonial Chapel in Wilsonville, all who shared in Mary's bright life are welcome.
