Mary Louise Shew

Mary Louise Shew nee Collins was born in Glendale, Arizona to Lona and Oscar Collins. Her father worked for the railroad and after her birth the family moved to Barstow, California where she resided until her marriage to Martin Luther Shew on May 26th, 1945.
Mary Lou, as she was known by, had two sons, Bill K. Shew (Janet) and Paul Allen Shew (Joan) four granddaughters, Kimberly Shew and Molly Shew of Prescott Valley Arizona, Emily (Kevin) Hughes of Corvallis, and Elizabeth (Adam) of Boise, Idaho, and three great grand-children. May Lou was also blessed with three step-grandchildren, Andrew Fifield (Sara), Amy Bartlett (Louis) and Bonnie Ell (Chris) and nine step-great grandchildren. Her Son Bill and daughter-in-law Connie Shew preceded her in death.
Mary Lou was married to her husband Martin L. Shew for sixty-eight years until his death on 4/16/2013.
Mary Lou and Martin resided at the Senior Estates and then moved to Cascade Park Senior Living. Both Mary Lou and Martin were avid golfers. Mary Lou participated in a weekly women's golfing group and helped plan and orchestrate local tournaments. Mary Lou also played bridge on a regular basis with several different groups in area.
Mary Lou was also a former Rainbow girl and then moved on becoming a member of the Eastern Star in Barstow. She remained a member of the Eastern Star until her death.
After Martin's retirement from the U.S. Navy he and Mary Lou resided in Oceanside, California. Mary Lou was a housewife until both her sons moved on. Her husband Martin had started a scuba diving business, first in their home, and then expanding to two locations in Oceanside. Mary Lou kept the books for the business and helped where needed. She also worked for a local hearing aid doctor and worked at tax preparation during the tax season.
Services for Mary Lou will be held on Wednesday January 16, 2019 at 10:am at the Methodist Church in Woodburn followed by inurnment at the Willamette National Cemetery.
