Obituary

Marlene Rae Thompson (Andrews) passed away peacefully on October 18, 2025, at the age of 88. Marlene was born on August 19, 1937, in Woodburn, Oregon to her loving parents, Ray and Martha Andrews (Jacoby). She was baptized and raised in the Catholic faith, and she attended St. Luke's Catholic Church.

Marlene was preceded in death by her Husband Alvin Carl Thompson, siblings, Brother Robert (Bob) Andrews and Sister Elizabeth (Betty) Koffler (Andrews). She attended grade school in Woodburn and graduated from Mt. Angel Academy in Mount Angel, Oregon.

Throughout her life, Marlene dedicated her time and energy to various jobs, including work at the Stayton Cannery in Stayton, J.B. Industry sewing baby clothes in Lake Oswego, and later at Birds Eye Cannery in Woodburn. She spent 28 years and retired as a crew boss at IFA Tree Farm and Nursery, where she not only excelled in her work but also showed kindness by providing transportation to her co-workers in need.

On April 23, 1960, Marlene married the love of her life, Alvin Carl Thompson, at St. Luke's Catholic Church. Together, they raised four boys: Alan, Roger, Jerome, and Bruce. Their journey together led them to call Mt. Angel, Molalla, and Mulino home before settling in Woodburn. After Alvin's passing, Marlene found comfort and joy in Senior Estates in 2007. She actively participated in neighborhood groups, enjoying activities such as bingo, monthly luncheons, bowling, and visits to the city pool.

Marlene had a caring heart and dedicated much of her time to volunteering with the Catholic Daughters, assisting with funeral meals, tending to rose bushes at St. Luke's Church, as well as the Catholic Cemetery in Woodburn. In her spare time, Marlene indulged in her hobbies and passions, which included gardening, photography, embroidery, sewing, bowling, and spending time at the pool.

She, Alvin, and their family shared cherished memories on many fishing and camping trips. Marlene is survived by her sisters, Sally (Allen) Gaines and Maxine (Jimmy) Clifford, her four sons, Alan, Roger, Jerome (Rosie), and Bruce, along with 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren and many Nieces and Nephews.

Marlene will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her legacy of kindness, dedication, and love for her family and community will be cherished forever.
