Lyle F. Sauvageau
April 15, 1947 to August 21, 2014

Lyle Sauvageau passed away at age 67 on August 21, 2014. Born on April 15, 1947 in Woodburn, OR to Cecil and Thelma Sauvageau, he was the middle of three children. He graduated from North Marion High School and went on to study at Southern Oregon State College. On October 21, 1967, he married Kerry DeKoning.
In 1968 Lyle was drafted into the Army and served as advisor to the 5th Special Forces Group, 1st Special Forces in Vietnam. He served his country with the Green Berets, earning numerous awards and medals during the war, including the Bronze Star.
Lyle and Kerry settled in Hubbard, OR where Lyle worked in banking, rising to the position of Executive Vice-President at Woodburn State Bank. After 20 years, a career change led Lyle to work in the field of Real Estate appraisal, from which he retired in 2009. He and Kerry moved to Mt. Angel after retirement.
Lyle is survived by his wife Kerry, their son Christopher and his wife Maroha of Forest Grove, OR son Ryan and his wife Stephanie of Molalla, OR and daughter Kasey of Scio, OR. He is also survived by his six grandchildren and his younger sister, Mary Doehle, of Mt. Angel.
A graveside service was held Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Zion Cemetery in Canby. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a favorite charity.
