Lutherine died peacefully in her sleep Thursday, October 26th, 2023 at the age of 95 years old.

She was born on January 10th, 1928 in Rolette N.D. and was the fourth of five children of Gullick and Olise Johnson.

Lutherine married Wallace Strand, her childhood sweetheart, on October 20th, 1945 and spent nearly 72 years of marriage prior to Wallace's death in 2017.

She, her husband and two oldest sons moved to Salem Oregon in 1951 where her family grew with the addition of two more boys born in Salem. Their family moved to Woodburn in 1963. During her time in Salem, Lutherine worked as a cook at Judson Junior High and once the family got settled in Woodburn, she worked a few years as a baker and cook at Washington Elementary School. Boy, could she bake!!!

Lutherine had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. Her deep faith in Christ gave her ample opportunity to sing as she sang in a mixed quartet with her husband Wallace and another couple while living in Rolette N.D. and then in church choirs in Salem and Immanuel Lutheran Church in Woodburn.

While her children were growing up, she loved to go fishing with her family and after her husband's retirement, continued to enjoy going to lakes to go fishing with Wallace in their camper or motorhome.

Lutherine was a kind and caring person who loved being around her family, especially her grand and great grandkids. She was an amazing mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be greatly missed.

Lutherine was preceded in death by her husband Wallace and sons David and Paul. She is survived by David's wife Chris, Paul's wife Lynn, sons Gaylord (Sarah) and Karl (Linda); 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Thursday, November 30th 2023 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1036 E. Lincoln St., Woodburn Oregon.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church Community Dinner Fund.
