Lucile was born November 18, 1915 in Gordon, Nebraska to Fred and Lydia Anderson. She had two sisters, Irene and Ruth, who preceded her in death. Lucile graduated from Gordon High School May 1934. In the spring of 1935 she studied music and Christian education at Anderson College, Anderson, Indiana for one term.
Lucile accompanied her parents in a move to Woodburn where she met Frank (Jim) Chapelle. Lucile and Jim were married in Gordon on January 12, 1938, then returned to Woodburn where they resided the remainder of their lives. They had two children, son Jerry (deceased), and daughter Bonnie Beaty.
Lucile became active in the Woodburn Home Extension, and Woodburn Garden Club. She served 50 years on the Precinct Election Board, serving as Chair for several years. Traveling included trips to the Hawaiian Islands, Switzerland, Alaska, and 28 states. Lucile enjoyed bowling and her team were state champions 1986-89. In later years she took up golf and joined Evergreen Women's Golf Club, Mt. Angel, then later the Woodburn Women's Golf Club where she served as president in 1999. In July ladies held a celebration to honor Lucile at the golf course. Other interests included quilt-making, crocheting, knitting, and oil painting. Church was important and she served as organist at Woodburn Church of God for 60 years.
In the fall of 2015 Lucile made the decision to move into Cascade Park Retirement in Woodburn where she knew many residents. It was a good fit for her and she spent numerous hours working jigsaw puzzles, wi-bowling, Skip-bo, craft activities, Bible study, and socializing.
Lucile suffered a severe stroke the evening of Saturday, August 27. Family were by her side until her passing at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, August 29 at Salem Hospital. Lucile is survived by daughter Bonnie Beaty and husband Robert, grandson James Beaty and wife Deborah, granddaughter Terie Rash and husband Robert, and granddaughter Tina Schneider, 7 great grandchildren, and 17 great great grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, September 30, at 1:30 p.m., Hoodview Church of God, Woodburn. A private internment was held September 6 at Belle Passi Mausoleum, Woodburn.
