Lucile E (Edwards) Betts, 91, passed away on Oct. 27, 2012. In Woodburn OR. Lucile was born to Robert and Erie Edwards in Ellensburg, Washington. She moved to Tacoma in 1922, attended Lincoln High School and graduated with her RN from St. Josephs Nursing School in Jan 1945. During nursing school she was part of the Army Nurse Corp Cadet program and enlisted upon graduation into the ANC.Stationed at Dibble General Hospital in Menlo Park, Ca. she met her Husband Ed Betts one of the many returning POW's of the Pacific whom she cared for. They were married July 1946. They lived in King City, CA until moving to Graham, WA. In 1948. In 1950 they moved to Spanaway, WA. where they owned Clover Creek Mink Ranch. In 1963 they were divorced.Lucile went back to nursing where she worked at Mountain View (Peirce County) Hospital until 1970 when she left and went to work at Madigan Army Hospital until retirement in 1985.Lucile's children and grandchildren were her life. She was preceded in death by her oldest son Don (Lynda) and survived by son Jon (Debbie) of Woodburn, OR., daughter Merrie (Craig) of Santa Barbara Ca. and brother Don Edwards and family of Tacoma. "Grandma Lucy" is survived by her 4 grandchildren Michael, Katie, David, Hannah, and 2 greatgranddaughters."Mom" spent the final 10 years of her life with the physical hardships of low mobility and blindness but she never let this deter her positive attitude about life. She knows she no longer has to endure these limitations in Heaven. She leaves behindmany friends in Tacoma and CMV in Woodburn, OR. who truly loved her positive attitude she expounded every day.
