Obituary

Linda was a quiet protestor who went a bit against the grain in her life, as well as the young courage to save her brother and sister from a house fire in Nebraska when she was 15 years old.
The family moved from North Platte where they had apple boxes and orange crates for furniture, lanterns for light and no indoor plumbing. It was off to Portland in search of a better life.
She was a perfectionist at times, even having the grandkids weed the yard on Thanksgiving Day.[There was cash incentive available at the end of course!] My Grandfather started a cobbler shop in Portland and his creativity obviously trickled down to mom as she made her own hats and gloves to match her shoes in beautiful 1940's style. She dressed them both up when she took my Grandmother to San Francisco for a Louis Armstrong concert and that was one of mom's favorite memories.
She was a military wife three times over, starting with losing her first love in Dutch Harbor, Alaska in the attack prior to Pearl Harbor in 1941.
We took many trips together but my favorite is taking her to Hawaii to see the Trail of Tears and experiencing the feeling of pride at what a sacrifice our solders made for our freedom, but also the inner strength that the women had to have to push forward through tragedy, and continue to do the hard work of raising their families.
Mom taught me many things, but my two favorites are about strength; No matter what happens, you have to get up, get going, and move forward through whatever happens, figure out how to make lemons to lemonade.
The other is don't let ANYONE push you around. She is in a peaceful place now where you don't need to push or fight anymore and that is perfect.
She is survived by all of her children...
