Leonard James SchulzeAug. 28, 1926 - Jan. 11, 2013Leonard was born in Ridley Park, Pennsylvania, raised in Philadelphia until he enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1943. After his military service he received his BA in Education and Mechanical Engineering, the worked for DuPont in California. Additionally, he held an MBA in Marketing taking a position at Oregon Freeze Dry in Albany, Oregon. In 1972 Len moved to Wilsonville and stated his own company, Outdoor Sports Northwest, specializing in hiking and camping equipment, retiring in 1988. This gave him more time to spend with his wife, Joanne of 28 years. They traveled extensively, with Florida's Marco Island becoming one of their favorite sports. In addition, he volunteered many hours as a Boy Scout leader with Troop 194 in Wilsonville. He is survived by his wife Joanne, her children and their families. He is also survived by his sons, Rick and Greg, and their families. Len was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Services and memorial mass will be held at St Francis Of Assisi Episcopal Church in Wilsonville on Jan. 31 at 12:00 pm, followed by a reception at the Charbonneau Country Club. Private committal with military honors will be held at Willamette National Cemetery. Contributions in Len's honor may be made to Wilsonville St. Vincent de Paul.
