Lawrence Martin
Petroski
Nov 11, 1936 — Aug 31, 2026
Woodburn, Oregon
Lawrence (Pete) Petroski passed away at 89, just days short of his 90th birthday. He passed on August 31st at Springridge care home in Charbonneau, Oregon. Pete lived in the senior estates in Woodburn for over 26 years.
Pete was born in Tacoma, Washington. His adoptive parents were Zygmond and Cathryn Petroski. His stories tell of many years of service to the Milwaukee railroad. Proudly he served in the US Army. In retirement he volunteered for the Woodburn Police Department.
Oktoberfest celebrations were enriched by his lively accordion music at Bauman Farms and Mt. Angel. Pete faithfully played the organ every Saturday night at Sacred Heart Church in Gervais. For many years Pete served as the president of the Grange in Woodburn.
Pete was married to Jan for over 30 years. Jan tells of how she lived her first 50 years as a strait-laced German and her last years with Pete living as a Polish bride dancing until 2 o’clock in the morning to polka music.
Pete was a father to Paul and Peter, he also had one grandchild, Aaron. He also leaves behind three step children, Kathleen, Micheal and Gary.
