Obituary

Kenneth Phillip Berkey, 99. of Hubbard, died on October 24, 2013 in his home. He was born in Hubbard, Oregon to John and Grace (Troyer) Berkey on February 25, 1914. He married Lilly Lais on June 20, 1941 at Zion Mennonite Church where he was a lifetime member. Kenneth shared ownership in the Needy Brick and Tile Company for 64 years. He was active in his church as elder and teacher. He was devoted to his family and a generous contributor to local and international missions. Kenneth is survived by daughters: Jeanne Heyerly (Indiana), Linda Abraham (Kimberly), Grace Stutzman (Hubbard), Karen Amstutz (Hubbard), Anita Berkey (California); sisters: Ruth Hostetler (Canby), Helen Reznicsek (Woodburn); brother: Richard Berkey (Molalla); and 17 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Lilly, son Peter Berkey, sisters Kathryn Yoder, Gladys Heyerly, Blanche Heyerly, brothers Willis, Derben, Johnny, Stephen, and one grandson. A memorial service will be held at Zion Mennonite Church on November 3, at 3 P.M.Arrangements by Simon-Cornwell Colonial Chapel- Woodburn
