Joseph Daniel Kudrna, 66, Brooks, Oregon, died January 27, 2022 at home. He was born January 9, 1956 in Corvallis, Oregon to Otto and Wilma (Tompkins) Kudrna. As a small boy he lived on a ranch in Kings Valley, Oregon. He also lived in Horseshoe Bend, Idaho; Winslow, Arizona; Sweet Home, Oregon and Canby, Oregon. Throughout high school Joe excelled in Track and Field, specifically the 100 meter dash. He graduated from Canby High School. He studied Forestry at Chemeketa Community College, where he graduated in 1980 with an Associates Degree in Forestry. Joe loved working in the woods, following a family tradition that dated back to his great grandfather.
Joe married Cherlyn Hunt on April 23, 1983 at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Woodburn, Oregon. They settled in Brooks and he resided in the family home until his unexpected death. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Bettie Shelby. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gervais, Oregon.
Joe loved hiking, hunting and the great outdoors. He had an uncanny ability to find his way through any forest. His greatest passion was coaching softball, instilling confidence in his players was always his goal. Joe always took time to help others and he loved to talk.
Survivors include his wife Cherlyn of Brooks, Daughters Lisa Kudrna of St. Paul with significant other Nolan Gabel of Turner, Angela (Kudrna) Blyeth with son in law Andy Blyeth of Brooks, Oregon. Brother James Kudrna of Stayton; Twin brother John Kudrna of Milwaukie; Sister Maryann Burcham of Nampa, Idaho; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be Thursday February 3, 2022 from 12:00pm to 3:00pm, with a Rosary at 1:00pm at Simon Cornwell Colonial Chapel 390 N. 2nd Street in Woodburn, Oregon. Private family Graveside service will be held Friday, February 4, 2022 at 11:00 am at St. Luke's Catholic Cemetery, Woodburn.
All are welcome at the Celebration of Life Gathering to follow the graveside service at 11:45 am- 3:00 pm at Life Spring Church, 9165 Portland Rd NE, Brooks OR 97305.
