Joseph Delbert Haener, 41 years old, died on Tuesday August 16, 2022 in a motor vehicle accident at the entrance of the family farm in Aurora, Oregon.
Joe was born on January 1, 1981 in Portland, OR. He attended St. Luke School in Woodburn, OR, LaSalle High School in Milwaukie, OR and the University of Oregon in Eugene. He was an accomplished drummer and musician and traveled the world with numerous bands; playing drums most recently at a concert for his soon to be wife, Shannon Shaw, and was elated to drum in concert for Toody, the lead of legendary punk band Dead Moon. Joe spent the last 15 years running the family farm with his brother and dad. He could often be spotted on a four wheeler trailed by a huge cloud of dust.
Joe was unlike anyone else, full of so much life and love. He was nothing but authentic and always saw the best in everyone. He was the kindest, sweetest, most generous soul who appreciated friends, family, farming and music. Joe was a passionate collector of vinyl and a true audiophile. He loved sharing his music treasures with friends in the form of meticulously arranged custom mixed tapes. Joe was a fantastic cook and baker. He was spectacular at charades and despite his quiet demeanor was super competitive at game night. Joe excitedly cheered on many of his favorite sports teams, but he loved his Trail Blazers and was a fan through thick and thin.
Joe is survived by his mom and dad, Delbert and Nannett, his four siblings, Malinda, Danny, Sarah and Beth, and his grandmother Beverly Dunn. Joe is also survived by his fiancé Shannon Shaw whom he planned to marry in November. Joe will also be greatly missed by his 7 nieces and nephews. They absolutely adored their rockstar Uncle Joe.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday August 23, 2022 at St. Luke Catholic Church in Woodburn, OR with the rosary starting at 10:30 am, also at the church. The burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Mt. Angel.
