Wally passed away peacefully with his family by his side Saturday, Aug.19th, 2017. He was born in Fargo N.D. on November 18, 1923 and was raised along with sisters Charlotte and Joyce by his parents Olaf and Clara Strand on their family farm in Rolette N.D.

Wally married Lutherine Johnson, the love of his life on October 20th, 1945 and they spent nearly 72 years together.

Wallace, Lutherine and their two oldest sons moved to Salem Oregon in 1951 where their other two sons were born and moved to Woodburn in 1963 to be closer to his work. He retired from General Foods (Birds Eye) where he worked as a mechanic responsible for operating food processing machinery.

Wally had a love for music and sang in his church choir and was a member of the Thorsmen, a Norwegian Mens Choir. He also loved to spend time fishing the lakes in Oregon with his wife and family. His strong faith was evident in the way he lived his life and he was a faithful servant of Christ.

Wally was an amazing husband, father, "Grandpa" and "Great Grandpa" and a true friend to all that knew him.

He was preceded in death by his sister Charlotte and is survived by his wife Lutherine, sons David (Chris), Paul (Lynn), Gaylord (Sarah) and Karl (Linda); 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and sister Joyce (Ron) York of Zolfo Springs Florida.

A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, Sept. 5th, 2017 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1036 E. Lincoln St., Woodburn, Oregon.
