In Loving Memory of John Mathews

December 17, 1927 – November 28, 2024



John Mathews, a devoted family man and longtime resident of Woodburn, Oregon, passed away peacefully at the age of 96 on November 28, 2024. Born on December 17, 1927, John spent over 90 years in Woodburn, building a life defined by hard work, love, and community.



A skilled bricklayer, John took pride in his craft and left a lasting mark on many projects in the area. Later in life, he worked at Flomers Furniture, where he made lifelong friends and brightened the days of those around him.



John was preceded in death by his first wife, Bonnie Mathews, and his second wife, Wilma Wood, both of whom he loved deeply and remembered fondly. He is survived by his daughter, Lori, and his granddaughter, Alma, who brought him great joy and pride.



John's life was a testament to resilience, craftsmanship, and unwavering love for his family. His warmth, humor, and generosity will be greatly missed but forever remembered by those who knew him.



A celebration of John's life will take place Friday December 6th at 11am at Simon Cornwell funeral home in Woodburn Oregon.
