John Walter Blalock -
(April 18, 1932 – October 14, 2016) -
John Blalock died at home, surrounded by family. He was 84.
John was the first child born to Ira & Pauline Hall Blalock in Modesto, CA. He married Jacqueline Bradley, in Portland, June 18, 1960. John attended Chico State until drafted by the Army in 1954. He returned to college and worked for Aerojet in CA. He served 28 years with the National Guard, retiring with the Rank of Master Sergeant. After retirement, he was honorably known in the neighborhood, as Chief Gopher Killer.
John is survived by his son, Michael (Mary) Blalock, sister Marcia Worden, brother Ira (Lorraine) Blalock, granddaughters, Jennifer Spackman, Dana (Cam) Pixton, Amanda (Danny) Peterson, step grandchildren, Brandon (Rachel), Danica (Kyle), and Chris, and 8 great grandchildren. John was preceded by his wife Jacqueline and his daughter Laura Spackman.
The family would like to thank Mary, Joanie, Woodburn & Hubbard Fire Districts, and Hospice for his care and support of the family.
A Funeral Mass will be held, Wednesday, October 26, 2016, @ 11:30 am, at St Luke's Catholic Church, Woodburn, with Burial and Military Honors following @ 1:00 pm, at St Luke's Catholic Cemetery.
