Johanna Maria Adriana VanSmoorenburg, 89, of Woodburn, died Wednesday, February 19. She was known as Ann.Ann was born to the late Mattheus and Maria Warmerdam, Nov. 14, 1924, in Voorschoten, The Netherlands, and was the 3rd of 15 children. She lived through WW2 in occupied Holland, then became a kindergarden teacher before immigrating to southern California with her family. She married the late William Van Smoorenburg in 1952. They relocated to Oregon in 1972. They were happily married for 56 years.Ann was a fabulous mother and is survived by her 10 children: Marita (Len) Flett, Joan (Vic) Phillips, Diane (John) Calhoun, Bill (Shelley), Father Matthew, Ann (Kevin) Hassett, Donna Downs, Renee (Bud) Rostell, Karen (Tom) Zitzelberger, and Brian (Heidi). She was "Oma" to 43 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.A Rosary and viewing will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gervais.
