Jesse Joe Lopez Sr 1938-2016

Jesse Joe Lopez Sr. was born on October 5, 1938 in Soledad, California and passed away on August 18, 2016 in Salem, Oregon.
He will be forever remembered as a talented and accomplished guitar and keyboard musician, artist, and fisherman. Jesse was also an avid gardener, loved to cook, and generously gave his time and talents to the communities he loved. He was an active member of the Woodburn Art Center, Knights of Columbus, Woodburn Elks, Woodburn Eagles, Woodburn Senior Center and Saint Luke's Cemetery to name a few of the organizations that were important to him.
Jesse was raised in Soledad, CA, attended Gonzalez High School, and was a long-time Soledad resident before moving to Portland, Oregon and then Woodburn, Oregon where he enjoyed the latter years of his life. His long career path included employment at Firestone Tires, E. & J. Gallo Winery and the Oregon DMV.
He is survived by his wife, Christine Lopez and children including his son, Jesse (Yogi) Lopez Jr., his daughters Hope Lopez Morales, Cynthia Atilano, Jacqueline Rene Lopez, and Sylvia Lopez, his step-son Joe Posadas, his step-daughters Florence Posadas and Paula Posadas, and his many beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is further survived by his siblings including his brothers Roger Lopez, Richard Lopez, and Raymond Lopez, and his sister MariaEllena Lopez. He is preceded in death by his sisters Bertha Saucedo and Angelina Lopez.
A memorial will be held at Cornwell Colonial Chapel in Woodburn, Oregon on Wednesday, August 24th at 1:00pm to 4:00pm. A funeral mass will be held at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Woodburn, OR on Thursday, Aug. 25th with a viewing beginning at 10:00am and mass at 11:00am. Following services there will be a Celebration of Life reception for Jesse at the Woodburn Art Center.
