Jean Welter Bayless was born in Portland, Oregon, on December 15,1924 and died on August 28, 2014.
She grew up in the coastal town of Timber, moving back to Portland for high school. She was proud to be the Queen of Bethel in 1940 and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1942. She was married to her husband, James, at Portland's First Presbyterian Church, a union that lasted 67 years.
Jean was a dedicated and supportive wife, a speaker for charitable and civic causes and an active member of social functions at the the Multnomah Athletic Club, Portland Golf Club, University Club and Waverly Country Club. She was President of women's activities at Waverly, Astoria Country Club, and O'Donnell golf club in Palm Springs.
She is survived by her three children, Craig Bayless, Christie Gorsline and Joan Madden, grandchildren AmyJean Goodwin, Lisa Parmentier, Trevor Madden, McGregor Madden, Taylor Bayless, and one great-grandchild, Blake William Parmentier.
Memorial donations will be appreciated by the Warrenton High School Scholarship Fund.
