Jacob Johannas Kooyman Jr. died at the age of 91 on May 21, 2012 at his Woodburn residence. Jacob was born September 27, 1920 at Amsterdam, Holland to Jacob and Anna Marie VanRapporst) Kooyman Sr.Jacob grew up in the Sellwood area, graduating from Milwaukie High School. Attended University of Portland for 3 years, graduated from BYU. Jacob served his country during WWII.He married Nona Faye Morrill at Portland, Oregon July 3, 1946.Jacob settled in Woodburn in 1953. He taught math and coached golf for 40 years, retiring in 1983 at Woodburn High School. He also served as vice president at the high school.Jacob was a member of St Luke Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and Senior Estates Golf Club. Jacob is survived by his 2 sons; Douglas Kooyman of Wilsonville, John Kooyman of Hillsboro, 2 daughters; Julie Smith of Hanford, CA, Kathleen DeMello of Woodburn .2 brothers; Richard and Colon Kooyman, 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.Preceded in death by spouse Nona Faye 1995.Rosary will be held Thursday- May 24, 2012 at 7:00 PM at Cornwell Colonial Chapel- Woodburn.Funeral Mass Friday- May 25, 2012 at 11:00 AM at St. Luke Catholic Church.Rite of Committal to follow at St Luke Catholic Cemetery.Arrangements by Cornwell Colonial Chapel-Woodburn.Rosary Thursday- May 24, 2012 at 7:00 PM at Cornwell Colonial Chapel- Woodburn, OR
