On February 6, 2014 Helen Kennedy was released from her mortal body and was received by her savior and our Lord Jesus Christ. Helen Kennedy was born on March 28, 1942 in Mesa, AZ into a family that included 3 sisters and one younger brother. Helen graduated from Mesa High School in 1960 and Arizona State University in 1964 with a degree in education. During her time at ASU Helen met an engineering student, Barry, of Phoenix, AZ. Helen and Barry were married on August 28, 1964 in Linthicum, Maryland and subsequently lived in Indiana, and lastly Sherwood, OR. Helen was foremost a teacher and a mother, raising three children as a homemaker. As a teacher, Helen taught 6th graders in Muncie, Indiana, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, kindergarten at Sherwood Baptist Church, and 6th graders at Chehalem Christian School in Yamhill County. As a mother, Helen always ensured her children's needs came first and was also known to always have hearty meals and freshly baked cookies ready after her children came home from school. For the past 3 years Helen endured declining health but continued to remain positive and making a Gingerbread House for this past Christmas Holiday. Helen is survived by an older sister and younger brother in Arizona. She is also survived by her loving husband, Barry, of 50 years, her three children: Troy, Todd and Tara, and by two grandchildren, Ian and Bram. A memorial service will be held at 11a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at Grace Baptist Church, 1619 E. 2nd St., Newberg, OR, 97132.
