On August 28, 2025, Gregory I. Dubenko, 94, of Woodburn, Oregon passed away at home. Gregory was born in Russia in 1931. He was the second son of 6 boys. The Dubenko family left Russia during the Revolution and lived in China until 1946. There he learned how to make and repair shoes. Gregory's dad, Ivan, was killed in a war in China, so the family made their way to the Philippines where they stayed for two years before coming to San Francisco, California.
In San Francisco, Gregory married his first wife, Dina. They had 5 children, 2 daughters and 3 sons. He also started a shoe business selling and repairing shoes with his brother and another partner. This lasted for 10 years. As his children got older and he wanted a break from the shoe business, Gregory moved his family to Oregon in 1977.
Unfortunately, in 1992, he lost his wife, Dina, to cancer. But he kept busy as a proprietor in property management. In 1993, Gregory remarried to Elena. His family was growing with all of his children married and having children to make for lively family gatherings.
Gregory leaves behind his wife, Elena, his children Lena (Michael) Rodriguez, Tanya (James) Davey, Gregory Jr. (Tara) Dubenko, John Serge (Lynn) Dubenko, Paul (Rosalie) Dubenko and 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren also an expected great grandchild.
