Obituary

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Gordon W. Bigler at the age of 91. Gordon was born on January 3, 1932, to John and Regina Bigler in Silverton, Oregon and raised in Mt. Angel, Oregon, on the family farm. He graduated from Mt. Angel Preparatory School in 1950, an all-boys Catholic High school run by the Benedictine Monks at the Mt. Angel Abbey. He went to Willamette University and Vanport/Portland State College (Portland State University), where he was on scholarship for football and track and field. He graduated from the Oregon College of Education (Western Oregon University) with a degree in Education. Gordon taught for 30 years, primarily in the Estacada School District. He taught at the Junior High, and High School, while also serving in administrative roles. Gordon also coached football, basketball, and baseball for little league, Junior, and Senior High School throughout his teaching career. He was known as "240 Gordy" for his offensive prowess in football. While in Estacada, Gordon served as a city councilman and was involved in the community. He also had a passion for woodworking, and contributed to numerous personal, family, school, and residential projects over the years. He was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus as well.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, MaryLou, daughter, Kimberly (Terry), sons, Kevin (Elaine), Kyle (Wendy), daughter, Karen, and former son-in-law, Aristanto, 8 grandchildren, Keshia, Chelsey (Kelly), Aren, Jeff (Theresa), Kelli (Aaron), Luke (Taylor), Adrian, Zachary and 5 great grandchildren, Loretta, Koa, George, Jace and Roman.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, John and Regina; his two sisters, Dolores Bean, and Rosemarie Walker and his brother, Gerald Bigler.
