Obituary

Gloria was born in Richardton, North Dakota, the 14th of 15 children to Peter and Mary Koffler. She lived on the family farm until 1944 when some of the family moved to Mt. Angel, Oregon for 1 ½ years before settling in Woodburn, Oregon.

Gloria graduated in 1948 from Mt. Angel Academy, all-girls Catholic High School. She married Alfred Hunt on June 23, 1951, at St. Luke's Catholic Church, their marriage lasting for 64 ½ years, before Alfred passed in 2015. Their 5 children are Dennis (Carol Ann Kirby) Hunt, Debbie (Robert) Ray, Karen Hunt, Cherlyn (Joe) Kudrna, and Daryl (Sharryl) Hunt along with 7 grandchildren (Jennifer, Jason, Lisa, Angela, David, Alexis, Rachel) and 9 great-grandchildren (Alex, Hannah, Sawyer, Conrad, Sawyer, Tulia, Josephine, Nehemiah, Josiah).

Gloria always had a good work ethic. She did her work with dedication and joy, serving her family and others. Gloria loved to create and preserve lasting memories for family with her gifts of photo albums. Her baking and cooking were amazing! At one time baking and decorating wedding cakes. Gardening and family camping trips were also enjoyed by her and the family. Gloria worked with a servant's heart putting others' needs first. She had a generous spirit, love for helping, serving, and caring for others. This was shown by her time, talent, support, and volunteer service with the following organizations: Camp Fire Girls, Blue Birds, 4-H sewing, special gifts of clothing for Michael the Archangel, St. Germaine's and Hope Pregnancy Centers, Union Gospel Mission and Catholic Community Services. Her silk flower arrangements were given to support community programs including: Fairview Training Center, St. Vincent de Paul, the Teen Parent Program, and Woodburn Ray of Hope community thrift store.

Gloria was presented a Community Partner Award in 2018 by the Northwest Human Services for her work with the Salem Homeless Outreach Advocacy Program. Gloria was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church, the Association of the Miraculous Medal for Mary, Mother of God, and the Marian Helpers.
