Eugene Watkins Minard was born in Villisca Iowa on March 28, 1924 to Jesse Minard and Ida Watkins and passed away January 4th, 2015.

Gene grew up in Missouri, joined the Army Air Corps during World War II but neglected to say he was deaf in one ear. When he couldn't be a pilot, his first choice, he was selected to join the Education Training Program. Thirty students were picked from one thousand engineering students to enter medical school. Gene graduated from Stanford University Medical School and went to specialize as a forensic psychiatrist.

Gene never lost his love of flying airplanes and obtained his private pilot's license.

In 1948, he married Joyce Andrew with whom he had five children. Diane Wilmert (Mike); Scott Minard, Kurt Minard (Betty); Mark Minard (Linda) and Beth West (Ray). He is also survived by nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and step son, James Cameron.

In 1980, he moved to Portland where he me and married Doris Cameron, his wife of 32 years.

Gene had a lengthy private practice and also worked at Dammasch and Oregon State Hospitals. He loved the tough cases and was a careful and competent practitioner.

Gene liked Democrats, chess, the temporal love, reading and the sound of his wife's laughter. And, of course, airplanes. He hated bullies, the telephone, war, and losing at chess.

He had a brilliant mind, a quick wit, and a heart for the under-dog.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. January 17th at Cornwell Colonial Chapel located at 29222 SW Town Center Loop East, in Wilsonville, OR 97070.
