Obituary

Eldon, at age 85, died November 22nd at Salem Hospital from complications following surgery for a broken leg. He was in the end stages of dementia/Alzheimer's.

On June 30, 1937, Eldon was born at Woodburn Hospital to Ernest and Irene Andres. He grew up with a sister, Dorothy, and a brother, Arnold, both deceased, on a farm west of Gervais.

He met Mary Fawver of Canby at Oregon College of Education. After being drafted into the Army in 1960 and stationed at Ft. Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis he proposed to Mary by letter and they were married in Salem on June 25, 1961.

Released from the Army in 1962 and having a degree in Secondary Education (later he received his Masters), Eldon taught at Sherman County High School. Three years later they moved to Woodburn where he taught for 33 years in the high school. He taught mostly chemistry and physics, some math, and general science.

After living 25 years in Woodburn and both parents having died they moved to the farm where he had grown up.

Growing up in a strong Christian home, Eldon always knew the Lord. His faith never wavered. He strongly supported the creation/young earth theory vs. the evolution/millions of years theory.

After God the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, family was most important. He loved his wife and kids and they love him. He and his family made many wonderful memories of camping, fishing, and tubing. The farm was a place where family gathered often to play and work. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed creating extensive flower and vegetable gardens.

He is survived by his wife Mary, children Carol Forslund (Glenn), David Andres (Shanna), Sherry Rodriguez (Noel), and Joan Jordan (Toby), 14 grandchildren and spouses, and 9 great-grandchildren.
