Edward Randolph Haugen III Died Wednesday June 12, 2024 at home of natural causes.
He was born in Portland Oregon January 10, 1954, to Edward R. Haugen Jr. and Sylvia Lucille Colwill. He was the middle of three children. Sister Dianne Marie Cox, of Vancouver, Washington and younger brother, Gary Haugen of Bonners Ferry, Idaho. He went to Centennial and David Douglas High Schools in Portland. Later he worked as a machinist for 27 years at Ingersoll Rand and Consolidated Metco. But the job he loved was later, at the Terwilliger Plaza working on the maintenance staff.
Eddie was an avid runner, completing 10 marathons and 15 Hood to Coast Relays. He was a daily runner; you could see him each morning running his route with their dog. He also had a love of cats and would adopt strays which he cared for.
He married Nina Smith on October 1, 1994, at a ceremony at Champoeg Park in Butteville Oregon . She worked as a park ranger there at that time. They both lived in Gresham until their retirement, then in 2009 moved to Woodburn. They enjoyed 30 years of marriage. In the last year when his wife needed more assistance due to her severe progressive Multiple Sclerosis, Eddie was on hand to give her daily care.
He was preceded in death by his father Edward and mother Slyvia. He is survived by his wife Nina Smith and son Curtis Haugen, and grandchildren Lucas and McKenzie Haugen
Services will be held at Simon Cornwell Colonial Chapel at 10 A.M on Friday July 12, Internment at St. Lukes Cemetery and luncheon to follow at St. Lukes Hall.
